My Three Books: the Be Data Books

You may not know it about me, but I love to read. I love it. I love reading an actual book and I utilize audible. Knowledge is a wonderful thing. As I do book recommendations, I need to do my three books:
Be Data Literate: The Data Literacy Skills Everyone Needs to Succeed
Be Data Driven: How Organizations Can Harness the Power of Data
Be Data Analytical: How to Use Analytics to Turn Data into Value
I didn’t know I would love writing as much as I do. I am approved for my fourth book and will start writing that soon, maybe even today. For this post, let me provide some more background on my three books, maybe just right from the back cover. Pick them up today!
Be Data Literate: The Data Literacy Skills Everyone Needs to Succeed
This is my first book and is an award winning book. From the back cover we read:
“In the fast-moving world of the Fourth Industrial Revolution not everyone needs to be a data scientist but everyone should be data literacy, with the ability to read, analyse and communicate with data. It is not enough for a business to have the best data if those using it don’t understand the right questions to ask or how to use the information generated to make decisions. Be Data Literate is the essential guide to developing the curiosity, creativity and critical thinking necessary to make anyone data literate, without retraining as a data scientist or statistician.
With insights to show development and real-world examples from industries implementing data literacy skills, this book explains how to confidently read and speak the “language of data” in the modern business environment and everyday life. Be Data Literate is a practical guide to understanding the four levels of analytics, how to analyse data and the key steps to making smarter, data-informed decisions. Written by a founding pioneer and worldwide leading expert on data literacy, this book empowers professionals with the skills they need to succeed in the digital world.”
Be Data Driven: How Organizations Can Harness the Power of Data
This is my second book. From the back cover, we read:
“Businesses are increasingly focusing on their data and analytics strategy, but a data-driven culture grounded in evidence-based decision making can be difficult to achieve. Be Data Driven outlines a step-by-step roadmap to building data-driven teams and organizations, beginning with deciding on outcomes and strategy before moving on to investing in technology and upskilling your employees.
This practical guide explains what it means to be a data-driven organization and explores which technologies are advancing data and analytics. Crucially, it also examines the most common challenges to becoming data driven, from a foundational skills gap to issues with leadership and strategy and the impact of organizational culture. With practical tips and advice throughout, Be Data Driven shows managers, leaders, and data professionals how to address hurdles, encourage a data culture, and become truly data driven.
Be Data Analytical: How to Use Analytics to Turn Data into Value
This is my third book. From the back cover, we read:
“To become truly data-driven, organizations must use analytics correctly. However, many never progress beyond the first, most basic stage, missing out on the powerful understanding offered by all four levels of analytics: descriptive, diagnostic, predictive, and prescriptive.
Examining each level in depth, the book outlines why they matter, how they can be used strategically, and how they can be implemented. It also explores how individuals and organizations can improve their skills and performance in each of these areas. Written by a global trailblazer in the world of data literacy, Be Data Analytical demonstrates how to use analytics for the successful and strategic conversion of data into value, insight, and action.”
Conclusion
I love reading and I love writing. Use books to help inspire you and help you to think more and maybe differently. Books may not be able to solve every problem and they may not provide every answer you are looking for, but I hope books can inspire you.
Check out my books and let me know if you have any questions. Reach out and let me know how I can help you in your data journey.
Stay nerdy, my friends!!
